Our Movie Page

I have been a list-maker since birth. One of the things I love the most about Gavin is his openminded nature. I know I can count on him for being down for just about anything. I have recruited him to do a number of things that I consider my silly idiosyncracies, including listmaking. One of our first comprehensive lists was made on our drive to Pensacola recently. We both love movies. Although, I think I am much more of a movie nerd than Gavin. So, it seems fitting that our first list would be…
“Our favorite movies of ALL time.”

Just so you know, we do not take our list-making lightly. I think it’s also interesting to note that we have different strategies for making lists. Gavin likes to brainstorm a pre-list and then make final choices by insuring that each genre is represented. On the other hand, I like to choose based on originality in narrative structure, cinematography and how often I would like to watch them. I admire the variety in Gavin’s choices. I feel that some certain genres maybe overrepresented in my list.

Becky is right, it was very hard indeed to choose just 10 movies. There were many more that mean a lot to me and keeping them out of my list was not easy. I am pretty sure that if I would rewrite it in ten days, it would be a different list! If Becky agrees we might add our favorite movies that never got an Oscar nomination... There are a lot of great films out there that have been somewhat ignored from the mainstream industry.
